The Wave at Coyote Buttes is located in north central Arizona, USA two miles south of Utah border. It is managed by the Bureau of Land Management. Only twenty people are issued entrance permits each day and there are quite often 200 to 300 applicants each day that apply. 10 are accepted on-line about three months beforehand and 10 are accepted the day before at the ranger station. The turn off for the dirt road is 35 miles from the nearest town (Either Page or Knobe AZ). The dirt road is 8 miles and on a good day it takes an hour to drive the dirt road, one way, to the parking lot. (I will let you do the math. It is rough.) It is impassable in wet weather. Then it is a three mile unmarked hike from the parking lot to the Wave area. The BLM gives out a good pictures-map packet if you are awarded a permit. It is best to memorize the route before you leave home. You pack absolutely everything in and out so be prepared. I took a gallon and a half of water, food, two compasses, First aid, emergency blanket, TP, Nikon D3X camera, three lenses and tripod on a cool day and 45 Pounds was about right.
